C.R. Onsrud 146C16C CNC Router Control Upgrade

After years of operation on the original AMC controller, the machine control system died. Todd Huck, the plant manger of Thomas and Milliken Millwork, contacted MachMotion to explore what upgrading his machine could look like. Todd decided to take over all of the mechanical and electrical part of the upgrade and have MachMotion come in for the final software power up and training.

Todd took pictures of all the motors on his machine and drew up the exact back panel sizes to make sure that the new panels would fit in the original electrical enclosures on the machine. Then the electrical back panels were engineered to be able to run all 6 axes and the spindle motor.

After electrical engineering, the two back panels with all the new servo drives were built.

Everything was setup and tested at MachMotion before shipping it out to Thomas and Milliken Millwork, Inc.

When the C.R. Onsrud upgrade package arrived, Todd’s team installed all of the servo motors wired up the entire machine working with our remote support team.

After the machine was ready, a MachMotion installer arrived to configure the control.

With the software setup, it was time to test the new upgrade.
