Thermwood is one of the few CNC router manufacturers that designs and builds their own machine frames in-house. The result is a mechanically robust platform with heavy steel construction, precision-ground components, and tolerances that hold up over decades of production use.
The weak point, as with all CNC equipment, is the control system. Thermwood’s proprietary controls become harder to support over time because replacement parts grow scarce, software updates stop, and the institutional knowledge to diagnose control failures becomes unavailable.
